Johann Jacob Bach (Composer)

Born: September 12, 1655 - Wolfsbehringen, Germany
Died: December 11, 1718 - Ruhla, Germany

Johann Jacob Bach [3/68) was the son of Wendel Bach [66] (1629/1631-1682), a farmer 'who could also sing well', and grandson of Wendel Bach [63] (c1580-??). Johann Jacob went to school in Eisenach, and was later organist in ThaI, near Eisenach, and then Kantor in Steinbach (1679-1690), Kantor in Wasungen (1690-1694) and thereafter in Ruhla. The Schweinfurt inventory of 1689 lists a vocal work by him, Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele, for four voices and instruments.
